In conjunction with our Family Value 1, I just wanted to touch base on a topic I recently read about that dealt with mastering mindset. The topic discussed was about how, as humans, we are hardwired in a way to focus on the negative experiences or thoughts more so than positive ones. In evolutionary terms it made sense in the past; touch this plant get a rash, or have a negative experience and hold onto that experience to learn from it, i.e. don’t touch that plant! The article expressed, in this day and age, this trait is not as beneficial as it causes us to harp on negative interactions more so than the positives. We get so blinded by the negative comment that the positive ones fall by the wayside. The point of the article was to try and rewire your mindset to put the positive to the forefront of your mind instead, even if the positive thought doesn’t necessarily deal with the current situation. It is forming the habit of focusing on the positives and finding them that counts.
So with that said will negatives arise? Sure, but let’s learn from them, as our primal selves would, and move forward from them. Celebrate your successes, but more importantly, hold onto those successes!
